In the ten years since the OMG launched the MDA initiative, model-driven fads and fashions have waxed and waned. At present, DSL’s, frameworks and ontology are foremost in jostling for our mindshare. Often strong on metamodels and abstract syntax, many model-driven approaches appear to be unconcerned about method and confused about semantics. But without a repeatable, predictable method and a notation with unambiguous meaning, how can we be sure that models are fit for their intended purpose?
In this presentation Allan will review the methodological guidance offered by some current EA frameworks and highlight some fundamental modelling principles that will help to ensure that using such frameworks will result in models that are fit for purpose and that will deliver lasting value
